Once a vehicle in the UK has reached 3 years old it must be inspected every 12 months.
This can only be carried out by an MOT garage with DVSA-approved examiners.
The criteria for this is set out by the DVSA.
The MOT test is a comprehensive inspection to ensure the vehicle is in roadworthy condition and covers a broad range of vehicle safety checks.
However, it is not the same as having your vehicle serviced and the MOT test does not check the general mechanical condition of the vehicle.
Don’t leave it till it’s too late, you can book your MOT tests up to 1 month before your current due date without losing the existing expiry date, essentially giving your 13 months on your MOT instead of 12.
